Indochine Restaurant holds its Grand Opening today!
What a fun project this has been for Blue Leaf. Working with such an interesting indoor and outdoor space was a treat. The natural light and exposed building elements -coupled with the creative vision of the client -made it possible to include tropical plantings in unexpected ways.
Restaurant owners Mark, Ladda and Susie have been great to work with -and have created a fantastic addition to downtown Jacksonville. Hope you can stop by between 6:00 and 9:00 tonight!

This LEED Silver residence in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC was actually built as a spec’ house! Only recently occupied, some elements were still in-progress.
Landscape elements included: native and low-water plantings; (soon-to-be) in ground cisterns to feed low-volume irrigation; sedum planted green roof; rain garden; porous concrete drive; porous paver walk and patio and; recycled granite full-length step into house.
Architectural elements included: solar hot water panels; solar electrical panels; geo-thermal heating and cooling; reflective and green roofing; shaded windows; open floor plan to allow adaptable use of space and excellent cross-ventilation.
The initial phase of installation was completed yesterday for the first public living wall in Jacksonville, located in the soon-to-be-opened Indochine Restaurant downtown. This has been such an exciting project and will really add the natural ambiance the owners were looking for. Watch for the completed photos which will include the wall fountain between the two lush panels.
Our designs were brought to life by the capable work of Mike Songer of MetroVerde who planted and installed the wall. Hydroponically watered, the shade-loving bromeliads, spider plants, fig vine and peacock moss will beautifully cool and clean the air of the restaurant’s interior.
It still has some final touches to be done but we’re so excited to see it come together!
